I feel so terrible about neglecting my poor blog! BUT...I moved AND also had weight loss surgery, so I feel those are good excuses! LOL I am almost at 8 weeks out from my surgery and down 57 pounds! It has been a HUGE adjustment & lifestyle change, but I know it'll be worth it all in the end! I know I must be feeling better because I'm DYING to get some crafting done! LOL Stay tuned! I'll be back!!

Sad News.....

Well, I have had a few days to deal with it & we are still very sad...My daughter had a miscarriage over the weekend. What she found out is she is Rh-negative in her blood type & that is what caused it. She was given a shot that will correct that now & they are going to try again soon....so please keep her in your prayers! I know God knows best & that it will all work out for the best in the end. Is it just me or does it seem this year is flying by?? It's so hard to believe it's Sept. already! I love Fall, it's my favorite time of year, but it came around again super fast! We had a really mild summer...very few really hot days...and lots of rain, which should make for a gorgeous fall! For we crafters, Christmas is upon us!! Better late than never!! Even tho my daughter got married May 9th, she is just now getting the photos back! Took forever...but I thought I'd post some for you to see! Some of them are in her wedding dress & some are in a dress she changed into for the reception. It was on the beach in Melbourne, FL. I feel terrible for not posting much lately but if you only knew how much I have been juggling at once....LOL Yes, I'd like some cheese with that whine....hehe My son is getting married one week from tomorrow!! I made some cute candy bar wrappers & wrapped 150 bars for them yesterday to put in their favor boxes! My daughter & her new husband will be coming up from FL for the wedding so I have been trying to hustle to get all unpacked & get my new place looking like "home", all while finishing up a part time temporary job I was doing for a local company! I want to post pics soon of my daughter's wedding & my son's, so bare with me...they're coming...I am having to use my Mom's computer until my service is hooked up Monday! I know I said I was gonna take a little while off from posting, but my good (& wise for her age!)friend, Lori, encouraged me to get my mind off things & make a card for The Pink Elephant Challenge. I have never participated in a challenge before, but it did help me feel better! It's a sketch challenge & was fun to do. I'm not a big stamper, so I used the simply scrappin' Love Stories kit from Stampin' Up. I love the Stampin' Up papers, cardstock, kits & punches! The quality is great! I will most likely not be posting for a little bit. As you all know I was recently re-married. He has suddenly & sadly decided I wasn't the one for him after all and has moved back to Ohio. I'm extremely hurt & heartbroken, but I know God will see me though, as He has so many times before. There was no real explanation, so I am unable to share more. Keep me in your prayers.

Great news! This just in....joining Marbie & Mysti soon will be....Mandee!! Isn't she adorable?? She is Jim's Birthday gift from his daughter, Amanda. We get to pick her up on June 6th. She will be fully weened by then. Let's all pray for a peaceful transition between the 3...PLEASE! LOL Marbie was not happy at all when Jim brought Mysti into the picture because she has always been the only cat, but she is adjusting pretty well. Mandee will be the last, we feel 3 is plenty! Hopefully I can post a pic soon of all 3 of them together! We love our little fur-babies! They are soooo spoiled, too!

Be-Jeweled Glasses!

I am fascinated with all kinds of crafting! I love the beaded utensils & things like that, so when I ran across this article I thought I'd share! What a simple, yet striking way to spice up the ordinary! From Craftychica.com:

Don't you dare use boring blank flutes for clinking the bubbly. Put a little effort into, alrighty? It'll be worth the trouble!

SUPPLIES:
Champagne flutes
4 mm Austrian flat-backed crystals (acrylic ones will work too, but they look kinda cheap)
Tweezers
Chopstick
e6000 glue

DIREX: Wash and dry the glasses. Squeeze a glob of glue on a paper towel or foam plate. Pick up a crystal and use your other hand to dip the chopstick in the glue and dab it on the back of the crystal. Place it on the flute. Keep an eye on it so it won't slide down. It's easier to lay the flute down and complete one side at a time. Let dry and go to other side. TIP: Don't put crystals too close to the top, otherwise it will be bumpy on your lips! Hand wash.

I'm Baaack.....

OMGosh! EXHAUSTED does not cover the way I feel right now! We got back from my daughter's wedding this afternoon and while we had a wonderful time I was SOOO happy to get home! The wedding was just gorgeous & Jim & I were able to get in a moonlit stroll (and some cuddling!!) on the beach! :o) The moon was full and just beautiful..we loved it! I will post some pictures very soon! We didn't get to spend too much time with Jamie, but it was still great see her & she looked so beautiful! I know she & Eddie are going to be so happy! We got to spend one night with my brother & had a lot of fun with him. He & Jim hit it off right away (both Nascar & Harley fans!!)...and we got to go through Jacksonville on the way back and spend a few hours with my sister & her 2 girls & their families, so that was a lot of fun, too. So now Jim has officially met all my family! Whew!

And....while I was away I received this award from my friend Paula at Little Bit of Scrappin!! Isn't it cute?? Thanks so much Paula! I was thrilled to get it!

Well...I need to fall into bed & try to get caught up on some much needed rest! I will post pics from the wedding tomorrow... hopefully! I can't wait to see the ones the photographer took! We have revival at Church this week & we are leaving Thursday morning to travel to FL for my daughter's wedding! Soooo...I doubt I will have much time for posting before leaving! Keep us in your prayers for traveling mercies...and keep my daughter in your prayers as well! She's about to turn Bridezilla on us! LOL We will be staying in Melbourne...her wedding ceremony will be on the beach at 8:30pm Sat evening, the 9th. Hope to have lots of pics to share when we return! Finally!! Jim & I are starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel! This move has really taken it's toll on us both, but the house is really starting to look like a home & we have decided to go for a picnic today! We are going to a local historical park here called Mill Springs. It's so beautiful there & sits on Lake Cumberland. It's a gorgeous day here & we decided to take full advantage of it! We have been like slugs the last few days...sleeping & eating & that's about it! LOL But....we are revived now & anxious to get out in the fresh air! Hope all is well with you & yours....more later! OK, I despise moving! We are finally in, but I cannot tell you how exhausted & frustrated we are!! Plus, we still have to go back to the old place & clean it up! Ugh! It has been difficult because of the weather & also finding people to help. Jim has had a surgery on his neck that hinders him from lifting anything over 10 pounds & I have this crazy nerve damage that keeps me from standing or moving around very long at all! We feel much older than our 44 & 46!! LOL We really like the new place, tho. I will be glad to be unpacked & "settled"....just in time to head to FL to attend my daughter's wedding! Hope all of you are busy crafting & loving it! I still haven't got to use my new Cricut Expression or Cuttlebug! Just too much going on...but I know all this craziness will pass.....right?? PLEASE tell me it will!! LOL More later.....

Boy--do I hate moving!! It's such a chore & to top it all off, we had snow flurries all day! Yesterday it was almost 70 degrees! Crazy weather! Was looking at some pictures of craft things I made last year & found this cute little whisk! I got it at the $ Tree (they had all pastel colors for spring) and just put some kisses (little chocolate eggs would have been cuter...what was I thinking??)in a baggie & slid it inside. Then made a cute little Easter tag reading "We "whisk" you a Happy Easter. These sold well at the craft show I made them for! For Christmas You would make the tag to say "We "whisk" you a Merry Kissmas"!!(ok, that's where the kisses come in better!) Anyway, just wanted to post it in case anyone out there needed any last minute ideas for the upcoming holiday! :o) More later....

OMGosh!! I am so excited about my new handbag! It arrived today & I LOVE it! It was handmade for me by Mary from Sweet Pea Totes!! Isn't it perfect?! And I got a little matching wallet to boot! I cannot express the beauty & quality of this bag enough...the pictures don't do it justice! Check out her blog & website HERE...she does excellent work & has such talent! I just told her I like all shades of greens plus florals & polka dots & this is what she came up with! It came packaged so nice & neat & I am just thrilled with it! Hubby & I have been doing a little packing today! Nothing too major, but just enough to remind us both how much we hate this part of moving! I keep trying to picture ourselves all moved in & calm & life going smoothly, so that positive thinking helps make it a little easier! LOL I had really gotten rid of a lot of my stuff prior to moving in to this place, so I really don't have as much junk as I used to! Anyway...that's how my day has gone & I will post more soon!

We're Moving!!

New hubby (aka Jim) & I have found a great house & we are moving in by mid-April! It has a full, finished basement with tons of shelves & cabinets built in, so it's perfect for my craft biz!! I'm going to start having a monthly crafting club! AND...it has a great office space with it's own entrance, for Jim's paralegal business! We are so excited!! It has a great yard for summer entertaining and is on a popular road so we will have good exposure. It's just outside the city limits so we are allowed to put up business signage. Keep us in your prayers for a smooth, easy transition! I'll keep ya posted....

I know it seems sudden...we have only been seeing each other since November, but Jim & I are getting married on April 10th!! I am so happy & excited! We just love being with each other and have so much in common and...we aren't getting any younger! Our children are all grown up & out on their own, so we just decided: why not?! We love each other--We have both been married before & know what we're getting into--We are both Christians and ask the Lord to be at the center of our marriage because we never want to experience divorce again! I just wanted to share my news with everyone! I will post some pics of us soon....we have had a lot happening at once lately and next weekend we are going to FL for my daughter's bridal shower. There are ghost and black cat Peeps for Halloween, stars and tree Peeps for Christmas, even patriotic Peeps for the Fourth of July. And there are Valentine’s Day Peeps for February 14th. Whew! I have been busy creating a new look for my blog! (purchased this set at www.aimeeaisher.com..the credits are on the sidebar!) I really am pleased with it & feel it matches my personality! My whole new concept for this blog is to post the things I create, of course, but also to post other great goodies I find when I'm out & about in the blogging world! There is just so much talent floating around! With both my children getting married this spring & summer, I may not get to craft as much as I'd like, but I will still try to keep up here with what I can. Hope you'll come back often!

Bubble Gum Sundae

Looking over some past crafting photos again today & found this simple & fun project I did! I got the glass sundae cup at $Tree, used a 4" styrofoam ball that I glued into the opening of the cup---once dry, I started attaching the pieces of gum from the bottom going up by using straight pins with beaded heads. You could also hot glue them on. I then added some curly ribbon to the the top & inserted a straw. The whole thing took less than 30 minutes! It's a cute birthday gift for a child or a great gift for a coworker! You could do these with just about any candy that is individually wrapped...bit-o-honey, tootsie rolls, mints, etc.

Wow! It's been a while since I posted! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas & that so far, your New Year is going great! I had a BUSY holiday season with my candy bar wrappers, which was nice financially, but extremely hard stress-wise & with my illness, so I am happy it's behind me for now. I have been relaxing & have been taking it very easy on crafting, altho I know the bug will hit me again a little closer to Easter! LOL It always comes back, doesn't it?? I have been visiting lots of crafting blogs & love it! Such creativity floating out there in cyber-space!
My next new project that I would like to try is beaded utensils! Have you seen 'em?? They are really cool....google it for some nice images! I just like trying a little bit of everything! LOL
I have a new guy in my life & am very excited! His name is Jim & we laugh a lot and have lots in common, so it's a nice time for me right now! It's hard being in the dating game at age 46 after 27 yrs of marriage, trust me! BUT....Jim is making it fun & easy for me right now & I really appreciate that! LOL I'll keep ya posted....
That's it for now...I will try to add some past Valentine's Day crafts to help inspire you because I doubt that I will do a show or anything like that this year for Valentine's Day....maybe Easter....ALTHO-- My daughter is getting married May 9th in FL and my son will be getting married June 27th here in KY, so I may not get to do much crafting at all this first half of the year! I have affiliated with a wrapper company that I love, but I need to keep the name a secret for a little longer! hehe You'll see why soon. Anyway, I, of course can personalize these wrappers in ANY way! They are of such great quality & so much fun to work with! I have, unfortunately, run into licensing issues and cannot hire consultants, but I am looking at it as a nudge from God saying it would be too much for me to handle right now, so I thank Him that He watches over me so well! My computer crashed with a deadly virus over this past weekend & I lost ALL my clipart purchases from over the last few years, but when I dropped her an email she volunteered to go back thru her records & is letting me re-download all the stuff I had gotten from her previously! Wow!! I am so happy! Thanks so much Krista! I love all my printables & things I get from her, especially my "souper" wrappers for soup cans! A cute lil' project to share!!

Oooh, I have let 2 weeks come & go without posting! Ooops! T o make up for it I am going to post a little tutorial for the pretzel wreath pictured here! I'm not sure if the photos will come out in order or not, but they are clickable & self-expalanatory for the most part.

These are very cute & really pretty easy! Here's what you'll need:

Some wax paper, small pretzels (16 for this size), Elmer's glue, a can of polyutherane(from WalMart-small can lasts a long time!) or shelac (much more expensive) and any embellishments you want like ribbon, buttons, flowers, candies...you name it! E600 glue or a hot glue gun, also.

Now, lay your wax paper down & arrange 8 pretzels salty side down in a circle...with the sides touching each other. Once you have them arranged, you take the Elmer's glue & just run a line of glue where each pretzel is touching. Let dry for a few minutes & then you will start your second layer. This time the pretzel will be facing salty side up----put a little glue on the flat side down around the bottom of the pretzel and place it overlapping the ones below it...see the close-up photos for this. Then just keep doing this until all the pretzels are on. Now, go back & add the glue to the side sams like you did on the first layer. Now allow the wreath to dry for at least 2 hours or more. Next, take a peice of thread & put it through one of the pretzel rings & dip the wreath into you polyutherane. I poured mine into an old tupperware bowl & it worked really well. Make sure it is completely staurated & hang on a rod of some sort to dry. A wooden spoon over a couple of tall cans will do...just make sure you have something underneath for it to drip on. Let dry at least an hour or more, then dip it again. Let it dry again & then you are ready to add your embellishments! If you choose to use jelly beans, candy corn or any other "real" candies to decorate, glue them on before you dip into the polyutherane to seal them, as well. This keeps them bug-proof! You can just feed your ribbon through or just make a bow & attach with glue. For embellishments you will want to use a hot glue gun or E6000 glue. They are stronger for the embellishments. Use your imagination! You can make teacher wreaths, baby wreaths, holiday wreaths & much, much more!

You can also use just 12 pretzels (6 each layer) to make smaller ones for the Christmas tree or even magnets. On the same token you can use more pretzels to make larger wreaths! You decide!
